Dr. Nelson is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery including multifocal implantation to reduce the need for reading glasses. He is currently Assistant Professor at the State University of New York, Stony Brook.

In addition, he has lectured and published extensively on cataract surgery having written two chapters in cataract textbooks.
